The automation sector is an extremely dynamic environment, characterized by the need for state-of-the-art components capable, for example, of integrating electronics and mechanics to provide true mechatronic solutions.

These must guarantee high performance, quality and reliability.

Market demand

Technological evolution has led to an ever-increasing demand for customized products and the need to reduce time-to-market and all related lead times by optimizing all the different phases, from design to prototyping, testing and industrialization.

From customer need to solution

Pneumax needed to develop products in small batches for custom projects. Production for low to medium quantities, would have cost the company too much in both time and money, so they looked for a solution that would satisfy their customers' needs.
“3D printing allows us to produce small production batches without the constraints of time and tooling costs imposed by traditional production methods.”

The role of DWS Systems

DWS Systems followed the Pneumax company through all phases of the first pilot project. After an initial consultation and exposure of what DWS's technology is capable of doing, the client decided to test the solution and proceed with making the first prototypes with DWS Systems’ pre-sales department. The prototype made was subjected to qualitative inspection using computed tomography to verify its density, with positive results. Pneumax is now able to make small production batches for customized projects with the XPRO Q printer and Invicta 2020 material.

The benefit of 3D printing

  • Reduce time-to-market: Pneumax has added an additional service for their customers by producing small production batches of custom and on-demand designs in reduced time frames.
  • No stock: with on-demand and small-quantity production, 3D printing allows them to avoid stock in the warehouse.
